Some people wish to become famous and don't seem to succeed their entire lives. However, for others, it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Hollywood today would not be the same without Natalie Portman or Jim Carrey, the fashion world would be incomplete if Kate Moss wasn't around. Here are some of those talented people that have to thank their lucky star for their unbelievable stardom.

When Channing turned 18, he decided that he wants to work in the entertainment industry so he moved to Miami and became a stripper. One day, walking in the street, he was discovered by a modelling agency. After signing with them, he became the face of Gap, American Eagle Outfitters and Abercrombie & Fitch. However, only after he appeared as a dancer in Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" music video Hollywood noticed him. From real-life stripper to The Magic Mike, Hollywood got richer with one more talented person.

Born in Canada, Pamela moved to Vancouver after she graduated from college in order to pursue her dream of becoming a fitness instructor. One day she went to a football game wearing a shirt with a Canadian beer company logo on it. During the game, she appeared on the jumbotron and fans cheered so loud, that Labatt, the beer company, decided to sign her as a model for their campaign. Then Pamela got a call from Hugh Hefner and she became a household name.

Rosario Dawson is the proof that if you are meant to be a star, you will be a star. She was just 15-years-old when she was discovered while sitting on her front porch. Screenwriter Harmony Korine and Larry Clark, a photographer, saw her while shooting some photos in the neighborhood, and approached her, proposing an audition. With no prior acting experience Dawson landed the role of Ruby in the film Kids.

Charlize was only 18 when she moved to Hollywood with one suitcase and a couple of paychecks that she received working as a model in New York. One day, while she was trying to cash the last check, she got into an argument with the clerk (he didn't want to cash a check from another state). A guy named John Crosby came to help Theron, and after doing so, he introduced himself as a talent agent, and offered to represent her. Crosby organized acting classes for Theron and within months, she made her acting debut in Children of the Corn III.

Kate Moss was just a teenager when she was discovered. One day at the airport, she was standing beside her father who had an argument with a person at the counter. That argument drew the attention of Sarah Doukas, a modelling scout. Sarah spotted Kate and later said: "As soon as the seatbelt sign switched off, we rushed over." And just like that, the fashion world got itself an icon.

Being a part of a charity fashion show worked well for Estella Warren. While she was doing her cat-walk, a scout from a modelling agency in New York spotted her, took some pictures, sent them to his agency, and just a short time later, Estella started appearing in fashion ads, magazines and TV commercials. After her career as a model, she decided to pursue acting full-time.

Ford was having a break from the entertainment industry after a few minor roles led his career to a standstill. He decided to take up carpentry. During the auditions for Star Wars, a scout hired him to fix the door on set. That was a clever trick. George Lucas wanted only unknown actors in the movie, but as soon as he saw Harrison he asked him to audition, and the rest is history.

While visiting New York City with her mother, 14-year-old Jennifer was approached by a representative from a modelling agency that invited her to audition for a commercial. She was told that she was the best of all the girls on the audition. And although her mother thought it was a lie, it wasn't and like that, began a really big career.

When Depp was 20-years-old he was playing guitar with his band and wanted to become a rock star. His then-wife, makeup artist Lori Allison, introduced him to her ex-boyfriend Nicolas Cage. Nicolas then introduced Johnny to an agent, and after a few small roles, Johnny got his big break in 1984 in the movie Nightmare on Elm Street.

For 11 years, Trejo was in and out of prison. One day he had enough and joined a 12-step rehabilitation program. On one of those meetings, he met a man who one day called him for support. He came to see him on the set of Runaway Train where he worked, and that was the turning point for Danny who was immediately offered a role of a convict in the movie.

Natalie Portman was just 11 when, while eating pizza in a Long Island restaurant, she was approached by a representative of Revlon cosmetics that offered her a modelling job. Portman soon found modelling pretty boring and decided that she wanted to try acting. She joined the Usdan Theatre Arts Camp and appeared in several local productions. She got her big break in 1994 when she was cast to play alongside Jean Reno in Luc Besson's movie The Professional.

In the late 1950s, Cosby was attending Temple University, and also was bartending in a comedy bar. One night, a comedian that was scheduled to perform didn't show up, so Bill decided to take the stand. The audience loved him. Performing from that night, he eventually got discovered and was offered a record deal which led him to TV appearances. In 1963, during his performance on The Tonight Show, Sheldon Leonard, a TV producer saw him and decided to cast Cosby opposite Robert Culp in TV series I Spy.

While he was studying at the University of Iowa, Ashton worked his way through his scholarship. He worked as a carpenter, a farm laborer and even as a cereal dust sweeper. One evening while he was sitting in a bar in Iowa City he was approached by a talent scout that encouraged him to enter a modeling competition, which Ashton won. Modeling for Calvin Klein and Versace was his biggest achievement in modeling, but he got his big break with his role in That '70s Show.

One day, a friend asked Mel Gibson to give him a ride to an audition for a movie. Gibson agreed without even thinking of auditioning himself, regardless the fact that he already performed in a few stage productions for the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sidney. The night before the audition he got into a bar fight, so when he showed up the next day all bruised up, he caught the attention of a director who asked him to come back for another audition. The movie that he was auditioning for was Mad Max and his bruises were just what the director wanted

Hulk was just an ordinary bass player in an underground band in Tampa Bay, Florida. During one of his gigs, a few wrestlers saw him and decided that he had potential to be a wrestler himself and recruited him. For a short amount of time, he worked as a street seller in London, selling everything from artificial jewelry to perfumes. But he was actually discovered at a sports center when an agent approached him and offered him to work on a FCUK's campaigns.
